Response from Councilman Weser to Mayor Cooper

Written by Elliot Weser, M.D. on .

May 9, 2013
RESPONSE TO OPEN LETTER FROM LOUIS COOPER, May 8, 2013

Mayor Cooper,

Your open letter to me (and its distribution) did not have the appropriate disclosure statement required for a political campaign advertisement.

I have always respected the office of Mayor but not the unwise decisions you have made and continue to make. My election efforts do run on my “Integrity” since the campaign statements are data-based and verifiable, not “unfounded” or “without justification.” May I remind you that you and your political surrogates have repeatedly misrepresented, distorted and fabricated my record on City Council which can be readily fact-checked for accuracy.

Letter from Mayor Cooper to Councilman Weser

Written by Mayor Louis Cooper on .

Councilman Weser,
Via: Hand Delivery

I am deeply disappointed and disturbed that a man running on “Integrity” has run a campaign filled with untruths and false innuendo. These tactics should be beneath you. I cannot believe that you would risk ruining your reputation in order to ruin mine. Even more saddening is your implied accusation that other members of Council were complicit by being silent. Those men do not deserve such treatment simply because you want to be Mayor. Elliot, you may think you are protecting Alamo Heights but you are once again dividing our city, which had just begun to heal.
