Public Meeting for creation of Historic District Design Guidelines

Written by OfficeOfHistoric.Preservation@sanantonio.gov on .

You are invited to attend the Historic District Design Guidelines Public Meeting that will take place on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at 6:00 pm at the Development Services Building at 1901 S. Alamo. (Please see the attachment for more information.)

The Office of Historic Preservation will kick-off a process to create citywide historic district design guidelines with the consultant team of Clarion Associates and Hardy Heck Moore.  The consultant team and OHP, with extensive public input, will produce detailed guidelines that will direct the appropriate long-term development of San Antonio’s historic resources.  Public input is needed to help shape design guidelines that will protect the historic places in our city. Alterations to properties in Historic Districts and historic landmarks require design review and receive approval based on the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.  The design guidelines are intended to give more specific direction on a variety of design related issues such as appropriate additions to historic properties, signage in historic districts, and much more.  This will be the first of several public meetings resulting in design guidelines adopted by City Council.
