That issue is the lack of disclosure on the part of Mr. Prassel.
From what I heard on the city tapes, the Optimists have offered 50% of the profits returning solely to the AH area, a family oriented affair and limited attendance for crowd control. It seems to me to be a return to what the Night on 09 was when it started, a good time in 09.
Neither the City of Alamo Heights nor the Rotary can control all the events that occur on the same nights during Fiesta. Because the Roatry event is not an officially sanctioned Fiesta Commission event, anyone could hold an event on the same night and Rotary would not be able to influence that decision.
They also should not be able to influence what happens in Alamo Heights.
Mr. Prassel needs to make a full disclosure, set aside his personal feelings and remove himself from the discussion.

This should completely dispel the 09her myth that the City was "demanding" 50%.
Rotary also disclosed that even though they were in negotiations with AH, they were looking for a bigger venue - again proof that they weren't too serious in their negotiations
Why did they claim they donated $10,380 in 2009 to the AH Dare Program when it does not appear anywhere on their list of contributions?

The Rotary 4 way test
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICAL to all concerned?

I respect the CM and Mayor for answering the calls for change from the residents of Alamo heights about this event. It was out of control, didn’t represent the best of our city, and upset many neighbors near the pool.
Why do we need to protect Rotary by not having a party in Alamo heights for kids, families, and city charities? If we are concerned about charity dollars then the same amount, or more, would be collected by having two parties on the same night. The split concept as discussed in the last city council meeting on this is a fallacy. The concept was generated by Rotary the city council members protecting them and the rest of council bought into it. Rotary and the city council members are saying we need to give up our party night because of we feel guilty.
This all points to a hidden effort to get Rotary back into Alamo Heights without the contract requirements.
I, along with many others, don’t feel guilty and would like to move on and plan our own event in our city on the Friday before fiesta. Rotary is a great organization, but this event and this city should not be theirs to control. I would like our city council first to represent our city and its place in fiesta history, and not a charity organization.

A careful look at any of over 33,000 Rotary Club's websites worldwide will uncover its 4-Way Test to which all Rotarians adhere and which all Clubs take very seriously.
Number 1 on the list of 4: "Is it the Truth?"
It should have been to no one's surprise that what the Rotary Club of AH professed in oral or written form was the TRUTH. DUH, DUH, DUH.
So thanks should go out to Rotarians who live up to their motto...which can not be said of untold others in private and public life.
