Witte Museum receives Neighborhood Builder Award
Bank of America Honors Witte Museum with 2011 Neighborhood Builder Award
SAN ANTONIO—The Witte Museum is honored to receive Bank of America’s 2011 Neighborhood Builder Award. The Witte was recognized on October 20 for its outstanding focus on local neighborhood priorities and excellence in working to improve its community.
As a recipient of this award, the museum will receive $200,000 in general operating support over two years, as well as specially designed leadership development programs to include strategic managing, economic and organizational workshops. Additional seminars will highlight business planning in long-term business growth, forging alliances and building communities. The honor was bestowed upon two nonprofit organizations in each of Bank of America’s Neighborhood Excellence Initiative® 45 participating markets across the United States and London.
“It is a privilege to receive such an important award from Bank of America, which is civically enlightened and continually generous to this community through philanthropic efforts, employee volunteerism and environmental initiatives. The Witte has a long-term, meaningful relationship with Bank of America, and was proud to host Miradas: Mexican Art from the Bank of America Collection last fall,” said Marise McDermott, President and CEO of the Witte Museum. “It is an honor to be recognized for our commitment to the San Antonio community. The Witte is ‘The People’s Museum,’ and we share this gift with our neighborhood, our supporters and the City of San Antonio as we continue to grow,” she added.
