Olmos Park: An Update on Our Forgotten Treasure
This is an update to the The Mismanagement and Neglect of Olmos Creek story previously posted. Photos are at this updated website.
First, St. Luke's Episcopal Church & School, and the City of Olmos Park want to help take back Olmos Park from the offenders. Rev. Read has offered the church as our meeting place for the seminar. Chief Pruitt of Alamo Heights is also glad to get involved. There has been no response from Terrell Hills or Alamo Heights City Managers or Mayors, but hopefully they will join in soon.

"The smell of sewage is overwhelming," Robert Baron told us. "And I looked at the stream and the banks are all stained black, with uh, raw sewage. There's a film floating on the water." (read more and see video).
OP roundabout fixes are coming
Olmos Park will soon apply short-term fixes to its roundabout fountain at Hildebrand and McCullough avenues with an eye toward permanent solutions.
Since the city installed it at a cost of $100,000 in private and public funds three years ago, the roundabout has been the site of car accidents and has fallen into a state of disrepair. Water conservation measures have forced the stoppage of water flow at the fountain, further compounding conditions. (read more).

The Parks Foundation, along with sponsor CPS Energy, is pleased to again host the premier event that takes the guessing out of green living, and will put an end to your eco-anxiety, LiveGreenFest 2011. This annual community event geared toward celebrating green living, is produced by the Parks Foundation. (read more).

Woman's Slaying Unsolved 20 Years Later
OLMOS PARK, Texas -- On Aug. 5, 1991, Valerie McPherson, 32, went for a morning jog along Contour Drive in Olmos Park.Pushing a stroller with her baby daughter inside, the local mother was attacked and stabbed nine times by an unknown assailant. (read more and watch video).
Teacher Charged With Indecent Exposure
SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio Independent School District teacher was arrested after an incident at Olmos Park.Police said 53-year-old Kelly Reed was taken into custody Monday and charged with indecent exposure. (read more).
